National test of mobile alert system set for 3pm Sunday 23rd April 2023

The 10 seconds of sound and vibration is to test a new emergency alerts system.
The alert system will be used to warn of extreme weather events, such as flash floods or wildfires. It could also be used during terror incidents or civil defence emergencies if the UK was under attack.
The test message and alarm is expected to hit 90% of mobile phones in the UK. Phone users can swipe away the alert message or click "OK" on their home screen to continue using their phone as normal.
But it is possible to turn the alerts off, something domestic abuse charity Refuge is advising vulnerable people how to do ahead of the test.

Follow London Road north and at the mini roundabout (junction with Station Road) go straight over. Village green to your left (noticeboard, flagpole, timber bus shelter) and shops to the right. Continue over bridge, Dunton Green Primary School and The Duke’s Head on your right. Immediately after the pub is the entrance to Glyn Davies Close but turn right just after this into the service road to the recreation ground car park (just before the terrace starts).
