Dunton Green Recreation Ground Play Areas Remain CLOSED
Dunton Green Parish Council
The Government has indicated that playgrounds may open from Saturday 4th July, but there is a duty of care for operators of such areas to ensure that they are safe to use.
The play areas at Dunton Green Recreation Ground (including the outdoor gym equipment and Multi Use Games Area) have been closed and barriered off throughout lockdown. They will remain closed until such time as the Parish Council has completed thorough safety inspections of the equipment, has risk assessed the areas (particularly with a view to Covid-19) and it confirms that it is in a position to open these areas safely for the public.
We do understand that this will be disappointing news for many residents but please rest assured that the Parish Council only has the safety of its residents in mind at this time. Therefore, please heed this advice: Children and parents must not interfere with closure measures where a playground remains closed. If it is closed, then this will be for a good reason. Do not endanger yourself by breaching closure measures. Wait until the playground has been opened properly.
The Parish Council is undertaking several measures to ensure that, if possible, the play areas will be re-opened by August. Please bear with us at this difficult time whilst we try to ensure that facilities are safe to be re-opened for your enjoyment.
Please note that the recreation ground car park will remain closed until further notice. It is provided predominantly for users of the Pavilion; the recreation ground is intended for use by residents, not as a visitor attraction. Its closure over recent months has served as an effective measure in reducing the risk of unauthorised encampments and the amount of anti-social behaviour at the recreation ground.
STAY SAFE!
